AICCELERATE and DIH Hero at the European Robotics Forum in Rotterdam

The European Robotics Forum 2022 (ERF 2022) is the most influential meeting of the robotics community in Europe. This edition was held between 28 – 30 June 2022 in Rotterdam. Researchers, engineers, managers, and a growing number of entrepreneurs, business people, and public funding officers from all over Europe use ERF to discuss technology push and market pull and how innovation in robotics and AI can be accelerated.

For this edition, our partners from Eurecat Research Centre attended to present the project during a workshop on the topic “Towards transferring robotic technology and innovation to patients”, conducted by Francoise Siepel, coordinator of the Digital Innovation Hubs across Europe (DIH Hero).

This workshop addressed the industrial perspective of transferring technological innovation including alignment of end-user needs. It gave an interesting insight into our activities to bundle forces across Europe and focuses on the needs for the industry to embed innovations into clinical practice during the upcoming 5-10 years. Healthcare Robotics includes diagnostics, intervention, rehabilitation and supportive solutions. Robotic solutions reducing the number of interactions were boosted due to the covid-19 situation. However, many challenges exist such as understanding the healthcare processes in great detail, identifying the real needs of the healthcare professionals and systems, and deploying robotics in healthcare environments.
